Latency

The furniture is made from the concept of "time to wait" a bench for the semi-public space where latency may occur. An furniture that is easy to read , made in bright ash with a classic grey textile reference. The bench does not hide the big secrets in its shape, but the bench can be transformed if need for more seating.

MAWR12

A choice of high-quality materials combined to meet the modern aesthetics and need of change in expression as well as function. The body of carved oak-tree, carries the woolen mattress, but also function to fixate the moveable back-rests. By inserting the two back-rests into its simple metal-undercarriage, the furniture is expandable from 150-200cm in length, inviting its owner and guests to rest.

A Piece of Knit

For the project “ The new textile furniture” I wanted to create a furniture with textile as the main material. Therefore, I knitted a textile and braced it, so when it dries, it keeps the shape without any framework. In a furniture context, textile is often used to improve comfort. This is why I didn’t shore up the whole fabric. This means that the textile works as both the bearing and comfortable part of the furniture.

Armin

The armchair “Armin“ is inspired of the homeliness and “retreat cave” feeling. “Armin“ gives you a sense of protection, it is soft, pleasant and comfortable. The shape grows out of a concave curve at the right side to a convex curve or wave in the left side. The soft-felt weaving structure hides the metal construction. It gives you many opportunities to sit, you have a optimal dynamic of your human postures. You can recharge your batteries after work, calm down, or simply relax.

ÆDT

In the development of this bench, the focus has been on creating a narrative seating furniture, that balance between the aesthetic and non aesthetic, accommodating and repulsive . The design of the bench is inspired by worms, guts and by organic takeover of the man-made. The bench is not supposed to tell this exact story, but to ignite the viewers imagination.

A Brilliant Chair

The idea of this lounge chair was to make it soft and comfortable but still transparent and light in its expression. The shape is inspired by the brilliant - a transparent object, cut in shape to play with light. With the use of alternative upholstery materials, the vertical surfaces of this chair have become translucent and soft. In this way the chair preserves the light flow and lines of architecture, in its interaction with the surrounding space.

Feast for the Eyes

Chair inspired by woven structures and optical illusions. The intention was to create a visually attractive and at the same time a comfortable chair.

Untitled

The aim here was to challenge the limits of the theme "the new textile furniture". As such the appearance of the chair's shell is the result of investigating the potential of veneer for wicker work - i.e. of using a non-textile material in a textile way. During the process much attention has been paid to the differences in the tactile nature of different materials.

DIPDIP

I wanted to create a personal space, a kind of asylum that can provide user with peace and relaxation. Of main importance to me was the nature of the light and influence which it exerts. Dip dyed membrane is strong enough to hold a person and at the same time to keep away from the outside world.

Hardened Leather Chair

Hardened Leather Chair is made with an old technique for hardening leather in a 100% natural way. The technique has been used for corsets and armours, and is now being used as self-supported upholstery for a dining chair. The shape of the chair, which is commonly seen in plastic, gets a Nordic materiality by the use of leather and the frame of light ash.

The Membrane Chair

The membrane chair consists of two textile layers with contrary functions. The first layer is a semi-transparent fabric that dimly shows the inner second layer, a woven structure that forms the inner seat. In the movement of sitting on the chair, the person's body sinks into the first layer and finds a fixed and comfortable seat position on the second one.

HELGA

"HELGA" is created with the intention to create a private sphere, a private break in the hectic everyday lives. The idea is taken from our childhood freedom - here we made caves and created our own private room, rooms where the time stood still, and there where no stress - only freedom.
